The Computer Centre of Vidyasagar University, established in 1998, plays a pioneer role in disseminating the knowledge in computer and its application among the peoples of different communities in and around the rural areas of West Bengal where the university is situated. It has crossed a number of milestones and continues to increase the activities in new areas of application.
University Campus has been declared as SMART CAMPUS since last year with its excellent and round ICT services being provided through the Computer Centre under the dynamic leadership and innovative ideas from the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor.
The centre is maintaining the Campus LAN (Optical Fiber based GBIC) with more than 1200 nodes throughout the campus and providing Internet services with 1 GBPS connectivity (through MHRD NME-ICT NKN Project) and an additional link with 100 MBPS connectivity. It provides campus-wide Wi-Fi through 263 access points to serve about 3500 PG students, 250 scholars, 500 staff and several other members. Apart from these, Smart card based attendance & HR Management, Electronic Door, e-enabled classrooms, Campus-wide State of the Art Intelligent CCTV Surveillance System, exclusively deployed Mobile Apps of the University, IP Telephony system and MM Video conferencing, participation in NAD, Media Centre for e-content development, digital signage, development of learning management system etc. are some of the milestones achieved by the University last year as part of the Smart Campus component.
It provides opportunities to learn computers and their applications to faculty members, research scholars, students, and staff of the University and colleges by offering various training and literacy programmes, seminars, workshops, etc. Through these programmes, it is also generating part of its revenue. To provide industry-oriented teaching to students and generate revenue, it has adopted a collaborative approach with IT companies. The centre also provides consultancy services for affiliated colleges and other organizations, such as website and application software development, ICT infrastructure improvement, and policy formation on a payment basis.
As part of its social responsibilities and in alignment with the Digital Action Plan launched by MHRD, Government of India, the centre organizes various Outreach Programmes, Digital Literacy Programmes, and ICT Literacy Camps in adopted villages and Jungle Mahal areas.
The Computer Centre currently working in the following major division to cater the need of the University, Colleges and Society and each of the division is running successfully and has achieved a number of milestones during last few years:

- Conducting Training / Literacy / Awareness programmes for stakeholders
- Project & Consultancy
- Making Digital Village
Each of the above divisions has been functioning successfully and has achieved several milestones during 2014–19.
University ICT-MIS infrastructure & services are currently managed and maintained by the Computer Centre under the ICT-MIS Working Committee as per the University IT Policy.
