Department Profile

The Department started its functioning since the academic session 1988-89.While engaged in teaching and researches in the mainstream of Bengali literature, the Department in addition aims to make a linguistic survey of, and to collect various dialects of Bengali. Emphasis is also laid on the study of folklores of Midnapore district and its adjoining areas in order to connect them with the mainstream of Bengali folklore.
